CRECEMOS is the multi-sectoral association that encompasses the value chain of the renewable fuels sector, the circular economy and sustainable mobility.

The main purpose of the association is to promote the circular economy in Spain and the use of renewable fuels as an option already available and complementary to other alternatives to decarbonise all transport segments.

Madrid, 16 May 2024. The Association of Renewable Fuels and Circular Economy in Spain for Sustainable Mobility (CRECEMOS) has held its first General Assembly led by its CEO, Monica de la Cruz.

Mónica de la Cruz has more than twenty-five years of experience in the private and associative sector linked to the plastics industry, focusing her work on the promotion of sustainability and the circular economy, as well as on the strategic accompaniment of companies in this transition.

Throughout her career she has held various management positions in industrial associations. In the last eight years, as director of the Construction Division of ANAIP (Spanish Association of Plastics Industrialists), she has intensified her work in institutional management and representation, leading multinational teams and defining strategies to face the current challenges of a sector subject to significant legislative and social pressures.

Previously, she was technical director of the Spanish Association of Plastic Pipe and Fittings Manufacturers (AseTUB). She also has experience in the private sector of the chemical industry, specifically in Great Lakes Chemical Corporation, as UV Specialist in Milan (Italy) and Global Project Leader in Herentals (Belgium).
In her last stage, Mónica de la Cruz has also held positions in governing bodies of different national and European strategic forums, being vice-president of the Spanish Confederation of Associations of Manufacturers of Construction Products (CEPCO), member of the General Assembly of CEOE (Spanish Confederation of Business Organisations), member of the Permanent Commission of UNE (Spanish Association for Standardisation), president of the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN/TC 155), and vice-president of TEPPFA (The European Plastic Pipes and Fittings Association).

Mónica de la Cruz holds a degree in Chemical Sciences, specialising in Petrochemistry, from the University of the Basque Country (EHU-UPV). She also has two postgraduate degrees, one in Degradation and Stabilization of Polymers from the University of Torino (Italy) and the other in Public Affairs Management from ICADE.

The addition of a professional with Mónica de la Cruz’s experience to the association strengthens CRECEMOS’ capacity to foster alliances and accelerate the achievement of the 2050 climate neutrality goals. “CRECEMOS is a multi-sectoral association that encompasses the entire value chain (waste managers, farmers, producers, transport and logistics companies, engine manufacturers, aircraft manufacturers…), with the aim of joining forces to immediately offer solutions for waste management and its transformation into net zero emission renewable fuels. These solutions are already an available option to advance in the decarbonisation of all transport segments, especially heavy, maritime and air transport”, said Mónica de la Cruz, who also stresses that “we are looking for a real change in the production model that contributes to the generation of a greater industrial fabric, promotes employment and investment and, in turn, ensures that the path towards greater energy independence for Spain is facilitated”.
